My schedule over the last few weeks has been crazy. I have not had time to breathe let alone to pay attention to where my money is going. It appears to all be going into my gas tank. I attempt to keep a list of items that I need and when I go out get everything in one trip. Every effort within this family has been made to reduce the consumption of fuel. However, this past week did not go so well. Let me explain to you why.
I have boiled it down to being completely overwhelmed and disorganized. It is imperative to your finances and health to have your **** together. It also helps to have a spouse that can wipe his own tail and think for himself, but that may be to much to wish for. Due to me running around in circles I would forget to add items to my list, and that led to making extra trips in the car.
I have tried that “life and work” balance thing and have concluded that it will not be feasible for me to ever reach that goal. I repeatedly get started on my work, according to my schedule, and never finish one task before another is in front of me. The biggest money waster has been eating out. I am so blessed tired that I do not want to cook, feed everyone and then be faced with a huge mess in the kitchen. (please refer back to my previous comment regarding my spouse) It has not helped my budget or the environment as I have resorted to paper plates and cups for my dinnerware.
Once the kids are bathed, fed and half way settled my work begins again. I attempt to catch up on the office tasks that did not get completed earlier and of course at this point in the night I could care less what type of accuracy anything is done with.
Are you catching on yet? It takes more than financial know how to be frugal. It takes the whole family working together. It takes being organized and being attentive to how and why you are spending money. All the frugal ideas in the world will not work if you do not have the time or energy to follow through with them.
Enough complaining from me already!! My goal for this weekend is to get myself together. I will take my own advice and start being my frugal self again!!
